Joan Marie Luciano Vargas is the owner
and creative behind JoMaLu LLC. She
uses her art to embrace and affirm
culture, ethnicity, creative engagement,
spirituality, and connection. She is
known in the community for being safe
and welcoming to all. Through
movement and physical expression,
Joan believes it is able to break language
barriers and make the bridge of
connection without speaking a word.
Joan creates spaces for meaningful
connections, building, and togetherness.
Her mission through her art is to
embrace one's cultures and traditions,
actively and proactively keeping her
diasporic roots alive, and spread joy and
hope unto others. She believes in the
power of look good, move good, feel
great.
Joan finds adornment to be powerful. There is importance to choosing an accessory
that makes one feel good, seen and special. A particular jewelry piece can boost one's
confidence, be the signature of one's look or the finishing touch right before heading
out the door. Aside from handmade adornments, JoMaLu creates vegan cosmetics like
lip glosses, eyelashes made by her, eyelash/brow serum, frageance oils, body butters,
and her very own eyeshadow palette.
